Execution by Elephant
This wood engraving was first published in Le Tour de Monde in 1868. Capital punishment at its squishiest.
That's just nasty. I used to have one in my history text that had a bunch of people buried up to their necks in a field with a herd of elephants being goaded to run among them. I guess waterboarding, as awful as it is, is not unique in the annals of awfulness of man versus man.
